About me

I'm Chelsea and I'm a/an

The prospect of becoming a computer science student and learning programming languages had never crossed my mind until I witnessed my father working on his computer and was captivated by a Japanese drama that sparked my interest in the field. During my high school years, I enrolled in a business course related to computers, which instilled in me a greater sense of confidence in corporate matters, particularly those pertaining to finance. Upon graduating high school, I was admitted into a program at John Jay College of Criminal Justice where I earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and information security, honing my programming, critical thinking, and analytical skills through advanced coursework. As a summer intern at Vngle, I had the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment and make valuable contributions to the projects on which I was assigned. This experience allowed me to refine my communication skills and further enhance my ability to collaborate and work independently, while also fostering the development of my leadership skills and initiative-taking abilities. It only served to reinforce my desire to leverage my computer science expertise with a prestigious organization. Over the past few years, I have had the opportunity to participate in several hackathons, which have allowed me to sharpen my programming, leadership, and collaboration skills. Additionally, I am an active participant in several communities, including RTC Black Wings and Rewriting the Code, and engage in various computer programs aimed at refining my abilities.

My skills

My skills & experiences.

My familiarity with C++, R, and Linux is attributable to my academic training, whereas my proficiency in Python, HTML, and other skills is derived from participation in hackathons. Previously, I served as a winter intern at Verizon, where I contributed to network engineering. During the most recent summer, I worked as a front-end web developer and collaborated with a team of four developers to redesign the Vngle website using React.js, Gatsby, and Bootstrap. This redesign enhanced the website's news coverage presentation. I underwent a ten-week intensive training program that included one-on-one mentoring by Google and Bloomberg software engineering coaches to improve my problem-solving and technical interviewing skills. During this period, I also participated in a boot camp with Generation USA to further augment my web development expertise.
